I am comprehensively interested in the ecology of freshwater ecosystems and such related fields as Phytoecology, Environmental Botany … My research activities mainly focus on physico-chemical properties of freshwater sediments and their effects on the biodiversity (macrophytes and macroinvertebrates) of these vulnerable habitats due to  global environmental change and anthropogenic disturbance.

A palaeoecologist by training, I have long been interested in peatlands and their ecology, by using peatland ecosystems sediment records and other stratigraphic/palaeo data to improve our understanding of how these fragile ecosystems respond to environmental change. 

Over time, my interests have broadened to encompass environmental change and its potential effect on forest litter.
